I have never seriously tried my hand at military modelling, except in converting toy soldiers to different poses to add to the interest of my collection. There are, however, far more military modellers than toy soldier collectors, and I greatly admire their skills.

My favourite subject since an early age. In order to understand toy soldiers, military history is a must. I was editor of the Military and Aviation Book Society for twelve years, and still oversee its content, now in the safe hands of Phil Sidnell, the current editor.

For myself, I am now editing the History Guild, although military history plays a prominent role in that too.

Collecting the arms and accoutrements of war needs a great deal of space unless confining yourself to badges, patches or buttons. It is still quite fun to have a T 34 parked on the front lawn.
